Nets vs. Suns Recap: Five in a Row

The Nets welcomed the Phoenix Suns to the Barclays Center in style tonight, beating them 99-79. With injuries and illness taking the depth away from Brooklyn, they managed to pull out their fifth straight win. This is also the third straight game in which they have beaten an opponent by 20 points or more. This is the first time this has been done in franchise history.

The first half was one to forget. The Nets' defense was pretty much non-existent and the Suns were hitting any open shot they were given. Things looked bad when Gerald Wallace was fouled hard by P.J. Tucker on a layup attempt. He would leave the game with bruised ribs and would not return. The energy completely disappeared for the rest of the first half after that. The Nets would trail pretty much the entire half and even when they came within reach, Phoenix would hit wide open shots and continue to pull away. The Nets trailed 53-46 at halftime.

Whatever P.J. Carlesimo said to the team at halftime worked. The Nets unleashed everything they had and came out firing in the third quarter. Led by MarShon Brooks Andray Blatche, they outscored Phoenix 28-13 in the third and took complete control of the rest of the game. Deron Williams suffered a contusion to his thigh, but he would return to the game after spending about two minutes in the locker room. Defense was spot on and offense was clicking. Joe Johnson was nailing what seemed to be every shot he took and Deron was controlling the pace of the game perfectly. After the ugly first half, the Nets finished strong outscoring Phoenix 53-26 to end the game.

It's hard to single out a certain player as the key to the game. Contributions came from all over the place as the bench put up 45 points, led by both Marshon Brooks, who had 17 points, and Andray Blatche, who had 15 points along with eight rebounds. Joe Johnson led all scorers with 19 and Deron Williams added 15 points and six assists.

Final Score: 99-79 Nets
Most Disappointing Stat of The Game: Brook Lopez shooting 5-16 from the field.
Promising Stat of The Game: Reggie Evans 15 rebounds.
Scary Moment of The Game: Gerald Wallace leaving the game with bruised ribs.
Best Moment of The Game: MarShon Brooks' big slam around Marcin Gortat
