Deron Williams Does Not See Knicks Rivalry, Yet

Two of the most talked about teams by Nets fans are the Lakers and Knicks, for obvious reasons. The latter being of more concern for now. Fans, even this site, has already created this presumption that because the two teams play within such close proximity of each other that they are now rivals. Deron Williams does not see it like that yet, and apparently the Knicks chatter has died out. Tim Bontemps of the New York Post quotes Deron Williams.
Still, Deron Williams thinks that some things need to happen before the two teams can truly be called “rivals.”
“It’s just another game,” Williams said following practice. “This rivalry with them, it’s getting blown up by the media. But internally, we haven’t talked about it any. We haven’t said anything about it.
It's honestly hard to believe that none of the players have mentioned the Knicks, or will not play with a little more feriocity come opening night. Brett Yormark did not request this trade for no reason.
“We’re looking forward to playing those guys. We’re looking forward to forming a rivalry, but it’s not there yet,” Deron Williams said.
Yet.
