First Game at Barclays Center Results in a Win

After going into overtime in the first preseason game in Brooklyn Nets history, the Nets came out with a strong win in their Barclays Center debut beating the Washington Wizards 98-88 in game 2.

Things started off slow for the Nets, but they were given a huge boost by their centers Brook Lopez, who finished with 18 points and 11 rebounds, and Andray Blatche, who had 16 points and 8 rebounds. That's combined 34 points and 19 rebounds from the center position alone.

The bench played a large role in tonight's game with 37 points coming from there. C.J. Watson brought tons of energy with him once he stepped on the court and contributed 9 points and 2 steals.

Though there were a lot of positive signs in this game, there were also quite a few negative ones. The interior defense was lackluster, besides for Kris Humphries who finished with 3 blocked shots. The execution on wide open shot attempts was also a flaw in this game. The Nets as a team shot 50% from the field while only shooting 34% from the three point line and 52% from the free throw line.

The minutes spread was much different from game 1. Avery Johnson had some starters still playing when the final buzzer went off. In game 1, none of the starters even touched the floor in neither the 4th quarter or overtime. Joe Johnson played the most minutes tonight, playing 37 of the 48 minutes.

It seemed as if almost everyone was having trouble finding their shot tonight. Deron Williams included, he only shot 3-11 from the field with 11 points and 9 assists. Mirza Teletovic has also been struggling after shooting 1-4 from the field. All of his shots were three pointers. But being that it's only the preseason, it's nothing to worry about yet.
