Deron Williams: Brook Lopez 'Not Going Anywhere'

After a report by RealGM's Jarrod Rudolph claimed a deal that would land the Nets Dwight Howard was in the works, Deron Williams stood up for Brook Lopez, who would reportedly be dealt to the Minnesota Timberwolves while Kevin Love goes to the Lakers.

“I’m not gonna get into that,” Williams said when asked about the rumors. “We’re happy with Brook. Brook is our center. He’s having an All-Star year, so I don’t see Brook going anywhere.

“I talked to Brook about it last night. He don’t pay attention to it. It’s all rumors and sources. Sources are not credible to me. Until you can put a name on this source, it’s not credible.”

As we all know, Brook Lopez sat on the bench hurt last year and had to deal with these "Dwight to Brooklyn" rumors all season. But as Deron said, Brook is having a great season and may end up on the all-star team. Lopez is averaging 18.5 points, 7.4 rebounds, and a career high 2.1 blocks per game. With all the improvements made in his game, he has now become a much better all-around player. This is exactly what the Nets organization expected from him when they signed him to a four year, $61 million contract.

One of the most admirable things about Brook Lopez is his ability to not let these kinds of things get to his head.

“I mean, it’s been out there, taken back, out there for a few years now,” Lopez said. “I know our team is comfortable where we’re at right now. We’re playing well together and we really trust one another, so I think we’re fine how we are. Our group is doing a good job of ignoring them.”
