Headed to the mile high city of Denver, the Nets looked to beat a Nuggets team that has lost just three games at home this season. Brooklyn couldn't handle the situation and blew the game, losing 109-87.
The first half was an overall awful display of basketball for the Nets. The defense didn't step up at all and allowed Denver to get way too many easy shots. Turnovers also hurt the Nets, as they turned it over nine times in the half. Those turnovers led to easy fast-break points for the Nuggets. The offense was less than impressive, as the Nets put up just 38 points. They couldn't buy a shot for the first 8 minutes of the second quarter, and also couldn't buy a free throw. They shot 9-18 from the free throw line in the half. Deron Williams led the Nets in scoring in the half with 12 while Kosta Koufos led the Nuggets with 11. The three Nets point guards, Deron, C.J. Watson, and Tyshawn Taylor, all finished the half in foul trouble with three a piece.
Things began to look promising when the Nets cut the Nuggets 20 point lead down to 10, but it turns out they were just trolling as Denver came storming back on offense. The one thing the Nets had done well through three quarters is putting the Denver big-men in foul trouble. JaVale McGee and Kenneth Faried had five fouls through three while Koufos had four. But the Nets didn't help themselves when they continued to miss free throws. The lead was 14 for Denver through three. Things stayed the same once the fourth rolled along. The Nets put up their share of points, but Denver answered right back and didn't let the Nets make a comeback.
Deron Williams led all scorers with 19 points, but dished out just three assists. Andray Blatche contributed 16 points off the bench. In one of his worst offensive games all season, Brook Lopez put up 11 points on 4-15 shooting while also grabbing seven rebounds. Reggie Evans continued his fine road trip with a 15 point, 16 rebound game.
Final Score: 109-87 Nuggets
Most Disappointing Stat of the Game: 21 Nets turnovers/ 18-36 free throw shooting
Most Promising Stat of the Game: 49 total rebounds for Nets
Scariest Moment of the Game: Denver taking control in the second quarter and not looking back.
Best Moment of the Game: None
