Nets vs Bobcats Recap: Sweet Victory

Offense for the Nets relied heavily on isolation's but the Charlotte Bobcats are one of the worst defensive teams in the league. The team has some talent but collectively their is no trust shown on defense and they never step in front of penetration. Despite that, they did hang with the Nets in the first quarter. Gerald Henderson was their leading scorer with 9 and their big men chipped in with some production. Deron Williams and the Nets went on a 8 to 0 run to end the quarter.  They shot 57% from the field while the Bobcats shot 44%. Kris Humphries was inactive with a sinus infection so Mirza Teletovic was put back into the rotation. He wasn't a factor due to his teammate Andray Blatche who scored three consecutive times. B.J. Mullins could not guard him and the Bobcats coach inserted Tyrus Thomas into the game. Immediately, Blatche went after him and got to the free throw line. The Nets chose to ride with Blatche but he cooled down with two consecutive air-balls. The Bobcats were down but came back to tie it. Jannero Pargo and Ben Gordon were responsible, combining for 24 in the second quarter.

Williams opened the second half with seven points and his teammates followed his lead. Joe Johnson helped out but only scored 15 for the game. The Third quarter was a blur and the game didn't get interesting until late in the fourth quarter. Ben Gordon continued to hit big time shots from downtown but did not make enough plays to help his team win.  He did finish with 27 points but he had a few turnovers including getting ripped from Brook Lopez. Gerald Wallace played good defense on him but his offense is getting ridiculous  He does not look to shoot when wide open and it often turns into a turnover. Luckily C.J. Watson stepped up but Wallace has to play better and stay aggressive. The Nets pulled away and are now closer to getting the third seed in the conference. Williams is now second for the most three pointers in a season behind former Net Kerry Kittles. The Nets play the 76ers on Tuesday.
