Deron Williams diagnosed with sprained left ankle; ruled OUT against Warriors

Deron Williams, who missed Monday's win against the Atlanta Hawks, had an MRI done on his left ankle and was diagnosed with a sprain. This means he will be out on Wednesday against the Warriors.
Following an MRI on Monday, January 6, Brooklyn Nets guard Deron Williams was diagnosed with a sprained left ankle. Williams was treated with a cortisone shot in the ankle joint, as well as platelet rich plasma (PRP) injections into the lateral ligaments of the ankle. In addition, Williams received a PRP injection into his right ankle and a cortisone injection into his right ankle joint to relieve inflammation. Williams, who will miss Wednesday’s game versus Golden State, is currently in a walking boot and will be re-evaluated at the end of the week."
This is something fans have gotten used to over the last couple of seasons. Deron has sprained his ankle four times this season alone, including the sprain he suffered in the offseason. With injuries derailing his season again, Deron's frustration level must be mounting high.

We all remember how much Deron's ankle effected him last season. He was nothing near an elite point guard in the first half of the season. He received countless cortisone shots, but once the shot was injected into the right spot during the all-star break, D-Will got back to playing like the guy the Nets gave $100 million to lead a team to the playoffs for five seasons.

With him now receiving shots this season, we're seeing almost an exact duplicate of last season. Hopefully those doctors can find the spot like they did last year, then the Nets can get their top-five point guard that they paid for.

Williams' numbers haven't been what was expected of him so far this year. When the Nets acquired Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, and Jason Terry, it was thought that Deron would get back to being a 20/10 guy. He's averaging just 13.6 points and 6.9 assists this season, both of which are his lowest since his rookie season. His shooting numbers have increased as a result of the fewer shot attempts. He's shooting 47.6% from the field on just over 10 shots per game, and he's shooting 41.9% from behind the three point line.

With the Golden State Warriors and Miami Heat coming to town for the next two games, the Nets take a huge hit with Deron going down. The team travels to London next week to take on the Hawks, so we'll see if Williams will be able to make the trip to play with the team. For now, things don't look good.
