Woj: Nets, Kings in Talks for Thornton, Terry, Evans Swap

The Brooklyn Nets are engaged in talks revolving around sending guard Marcus Thornton to Brooklyn in exchange for guard Jason Terry and forward Reggie Evans:
Thornton is a 26-year-old shooting guard in his sixth NBA season. In his first two seasons in Sacramento, the 2010-11 and 2011-12 seasons, the LSU product averaged 21.3 and 18.7 points per game, respectively, in about 36 minutes per game in those two seasons. Since then, though, his production has taken a major hit – 12.7 points last season and just 8.3 this season – but this can be attributed to his severe cut in playing time (a mere 24.2 minutes per game over the last two seasons).

In Thornton, the Nets would get a decent shooter and a scorer who can add points in bunches coming off the bench – something Terry was supposed to do, but has not been able to accomplish. Importantly, it would add respectable depth in the backcourt for the Nets, who currently have just Terry and Marquis Teague as backup guards right now (Alan Anderson, too, if you count him as a guard).

As reports yesterday noted, the Nets have also engaged in discussions with the Cleveland Cavaliers for a Terry - Jarrett Jack swap and with the Los Angeles Lakers to acquire big man Jordan Hill.

As the trade deadline looms, teams are scrambling to make deals before Thursday afternoon. It seems that most of the talks involving the Nets are about Terry and Evans, the two players at the bottom of the rotation who have struggled the most to find their place this season.

What do you think, Nets fans? Should Brooklyn make a move before the trade deadline? If so, what kind of players should they target?

  1. Yeah, if a move is there, we should take it. Our back court needs depth and obviously the Nets seem to be going after that, so that's a good thing. If we can get a pick in return somehow, that'd be great haha
