Is Bojan Bogdanovic ready to be the Nets' starting shooting guard?

Bojan Bogdanovic #44

The Nets went out this offseason and signed Bojan Bogdanovic to a contract after failing to bring him over last season. Bogdanovic ideally is the replacement for Paul Pierce but putting Bogdanovic in the same sentence as Pierce is probably disrespect to the future Hall of Fame player.

With an early injury to Alan Anderson, Bogdanovic got the chance to start. He didn't play great but he also didn't play bad and when you have a chance to take advantage of a situation like that you'd better make the most of it.

Lionel Hollins had already said heading into the season that Joe Johnson would be playing the small forward with Anderson and Bogdanovic fighting for the shooting guard starting spot. At this point, everything seems set in stone that Bogdanovic will be the starting shooting guard for the Brooklyn Nets. But is he ready? Remember, this guy is a rookie in NBA terms.
We know that this guy can score the ball. He averaged 20+ points per game in the World Championships this past summer with Croatia. The question is, can he do it consistently throughout an 82 game NBA season?

He had some struggles during the preseason which is expected from a first year NBA player. It's going to be how he responds after having 2/11 shooting night that will define his future with the Nets. That will tell you a lot about what kind of player he'll be this season and moving forward.

Preseason is a very small sample size so one really can't judge his performance now and determine how good he's going to be come the regular season. He has a lot of upside but I'm not sure he expected to be a starter his first year in the NBA,

I expect plenty of early struggles for Bojan as he continues to get used to the NBA game. He'll eventually get used to it, how long that takes, no one will know. Transitioning from the Euroleague to the NBA isn't as simple as it seems.

Bogdanovic has a lot of room to grow as an NBA player. He's very young but, I think by midway through the season, Bogdanovic will become a key component for a surprisingly contending Nets team.
