Nets Fall to Pelicans on the Road

The Nets failed to extend their winning streak to 3 games tonight in the loss in New Orleans against the Pelicans. Despite a great effort off the bench by Brooklyn, it wasn't enough to defeat a Pelicans team without star Anthony Davis and forward Ryan Anderson.

The Nets got down 11 early and they rebounded nicely and we're within 6 at the end of the first quarter and they actually took the lead in the second quarter. The game was back and forth for most of quarters 2-4. Until late in the fourth quarter the Pelicans started extending their lead getting it back up to 11.

This win would've been huge for Brooklyn considering their next two games are in Houston and Dallas. Very tall tasks. They stayed right with the Pelicans for the majority of the contest but they just couldn't do enough to pull out the victory.

Joe Johnson led the Nets with a double-double scoring 21 points and grabbing 10 rebounds but the biggest lift came off the bench. Only 3 players came off the bench tonight; Jarrett Jack, Thaddeus Young and Brook Lopez. Those 3 combined to score 49 points, shooting 20/38 from the floor.

Quincy Pondexter showed up big for the Pelicans tonight. Dropping in a new career high with 25 points while shooting 9/13 from the field and grabbing 5 rebounds.

Young continues to impress. Tonight he recorded 19 points off the bench along with 5 rebounds in 28 minutes of action. So far, so good. The trade is working out very well for Thaddeus and the Nets,

Next up for the Nets will be a matchup with the Houston Rockets Friday night in Houston, where the Nets haven't won since 2006.

Final Score: 102-96, Pelicans
Most Disappointing Stat of the Game: Only recording 13 assists
Promising Stat of the Game: 49 bench points
Scariest Moment of the Game: NONE
Best Moment of the Game: Markel Brown's 360 dunk
