Brooklyn Nets shooting guard and clutch player Joe Johnson will not play in Friday's game against the Houston Rockets due to a sore left heel. Nets general manager Billy King reported his injury status on ESPN New York 98.7. Johnson is currently listed as day-to-day but Billy King does not think the injury is a major concern.
"I'm not [worried], " King said. "It's something that's sore and if it was a playoff game he'd probably push it, but with it not being one we are going to be a little cautious with it."His heel was reported to have started hurting on the second-night of the back-to-back against the Bucks King mentioned that Joe Johnson is currently on medication and his heel feels better now than it was two fays ago, when the Nets played the Bucks. . As for Sunday's game against the Memphis Grizzlies, that remains to be seen.
"If it's still tender and sore, we may keep him out, because it's a marathon we're trying to finish, not a sprint."Joe Johnson's injury was described as a "sore heel, like plantar fasciitis".
A sore heel would not be cause for alarm but plantar fasciitis would. Johnson has been the most durable player for the Nets this season, as he has started in all 55 games this season. In those game, Joe Johnson is averaging 17 points on 42.3% shooting to go with 3.6 assists and 3.1 rebounds, all below his career average. However, he has provided the Nets with multiple game-winners and has been efficient and consistent in the clutch. With Joe Johnson sitting, MarShon Brooks or Keith Bogans were expected to replace him. Instead, it will be C.J. Watson. This could mean more minutes for MarShon Brooks to prove himself now that he is with the Nets until the off-season. Efficient and smart play in the absence of Johnson could help him get more minutes.
