Kidd 'Pushing' for D-Will to Average Double Digit Assists

The Brooklyn Nets are arguably going to be the most interesting team to watch this upcoming season. As the roster is set for the season to begin, the players have wasted no time in training for the upcoming season. Their voluntary workouts have spoken volumes about their excitement about the upcoming season that it has even impressed new head coach, Jason Kidd.

One of the players who has been training hard to bounce back from a quite sluggish year is Deron Williams. Recently, Jason Kidd talked about the plans he has in store for his starting PG, Deron Williams and how he wants him to get back to averaging double digit assists.
"I’m going to push him. I want the best for him,” Kidd told the New York Daily News on Sunday after signing autographs at the Nets’ merchandise store in Coney Island. “When we sit down and talk about goals, team goals and also individual goals, I’m going to push him and I want to get him back to double-digit assists.”
Out of the 19 seasons Jason Kidd played in the NBA, he averaged double digit assists in only three seasons. On the other hand, Williams has done it four times already in his 8 seasons in the NBA.

There is certainly a lot of responsibility on D-Will's shoulders as he has become the face of this franchise. The Nets are expecting him to not only get back to averaging double digit assists, but to get back to becoming a scoring threat as well. Williams is a very dangerous player on the court as he has the ability to make plays whether it's dishing the ball to an open teammate or making some clutch baskets. Kidd will definitely have a meeting with him soon to discuss game plans for the upcoming season if he hasn't done so already. D-Will is in the perfect position right now to succeed.

Deron Williams certainly has the tools around him to get back to averaging double digit assists. He has the players around him to make it happen, and now he has a Hall of Fame coach mentoring him and pushing him to not only be good, but great!
