Third Quarter Haunts Nets Again; Clippers win 110-103

After an exhilarating win last night against the Phoenix Suns, the Nets found themselves on the court again less than 24 hours later. The Nets had their hands full tonight against the Los Angeles Clippers. The Nets entered this game without 4/5 of their starters. Kidd deployed Livingston, Johnson, Anderson, Blatche, and Evans to begin the game.

Both teams came out shooting from all cylinders in the first quarter. The Nets starters played well as Evans hauled in his fair share of rebounds. The bench players really showed their worth and Mason Plumlee was sensational in relief of Andray Blatche who found himself in foul trouble early on in the game.

In the second quarter, the Nets continued to pick up where they left off in the first. Plumlee started off hot as he was the receiver of some lobs in Lob City.  The Nets played really well together as a unit in the second quarter as they sparked some scoring runs midway through the second quarter. Tyshawn Taylor was stellar in the second quarter.

The Nets came out red hot in the third quarter as they began on a 10-0 run and took a 65-54 lead early in the third quarter. The biggest contributor to that run came at the hands of Alan Anderson who had a sensational game. Anderson hit two straight three pointers to spark the Nets run.

However, the Clippers stormed back after going on an 19-0 run and took the lead for the first time since the time they had a 29-28 lead at the beginning of the game. The Nets were able to narrow the lead towards the end after some strong play from Plumlee and Tyshawn Taylor and escape the third quarter trailing by just one point.

The biggest story in the fourth quarter was the energy that Mason Plumlee brought in the early going.  Plumlee drew a large amount of fouls early in the 4th quarter and was just on top of his game. He knitted the front court and complemented his teammates extremely well. The Nets were within 2-4 points nearly the entire fourth quarter. With just over four minutes left, Kidd decided to intentionally foul DeAndre Jordan in order to send him to the free throw line as he is a poor free throw shooter. However, the Clippers were able to retain their lead and increase it. The Nets just weren't able to catch the Clippers and Blake Griffin had his way tonight.

The Nets' next game will be on Monday night against the Trail Blazers at the Barclays Center.
