Winners of four of their last five, the Nets are getting closer to finally being at full health for the first time in well over a month. They've changed a lot of things along the way – 11 different Nets have started games this season and the formerly highly-touted assistant coach Lawrence Frank fell from grace and was demoted from the bench.
Many of their changes didn't work. But the Nets have been clicking as of late. So what's the difference right now? Is it just a matter of being healthy?
According to Kevin Garnett, a big part of Brooklyn's ensuing resurrection can be attributed to the fact that "Things have been simplified," reports ESPN New York's Ohm Youngmisuk.
"I don't want to jump the gun," said Garnett after last night's 130-94 blowout of the Philadelphia 76ers. Garnett admitted that the players deserve much of the blame for the slow start, but he is cautiously optimistic: "We put ourselves in this position. But we are willing to work our way out of it."
"Right now," he continued, "we are taking it one game at a time...trying to get better as a team overall. Every day we work on something to be better. Things have been simplified and that's good."
With each passing day, head coach Jason Kidd's decision to "reassign" Frank is looking better and better. With Frank on the bench, the Nets started off an abysmal 5-12. Since, they've gone 4-3. The #FireKidd hashtag has disappeared from Twitter, replaced by #BlameFrank.
It seems that this team has finally begun to unite under one voice. Without Frank overcoaching and undermining Kidd's authority, the Nets have undoubtedly looked much better and the players seem to be buying into Kidd as their coach:
"Things have been simplified...for the better and we believe in it," Garnett stated. "Jason [Kidd] has a lot of belief in us that we will carry out the plan and we have been doing just that."
