2014 New Year's Resolutions: Joe Johnson

Plain and simple. With Joe Johnson, we hope the new year brings him consistency. We have seen Joe Johnson play well this season, but certainly not well enough to justify the money he's making. Johnson has shot .438 from the field this season and .401 from 3-point range. While his three-pointer has certainly improved, it's been inconsistent. When Johnson is hot, he'll hit his shots, and when he's cold, he will go into scoring droughts. The Nets need Johnson to step up and show he is worth every penny he's making. The Nets have been playing terribly this season, and with 2014 finally here, it's time for Johnson to not only elevate his play and revive his teammates, but to be a voice in the locker room. Johnson has been 'average' at best, but the problem is that 'average' is unacceptable in Brooklyn.

Johnson's FT percentage has also dropped. It seems as if his play drops when the team struggles. As of late, we've seen a group of guys hang their heads low game after game due to the team's struggles. The East is highly wide open, and players like Joe Johnson, Deron Williams, Paul Pierce, and Kevin Garnett cannot do that. They are the voices in this locker room and watching them hang their heads low only hurts the team's morale as well.

We hope that 2014 is better for Johnson. We hope that Johnson left all those 3-11 performances back in 2013, and instead brought a well-rounded consistent scorer. However, we do hope that Joe didn't leave his buzzer beaters, game winners in 2013, but rather carried them over for another great season.
