Just like the Brooklyn Nets team as a whole, Kevin Garnett struggled mightily during the beginning of the season. With the team beginning to turn it around, it seems as if Garnett is as well.
"I'm shooting the ball a little better. Rhythm-wise, a little bit. Better than before," said Garnett in front of a large crowd of reporters before Wednesday's practice at O2 Arena. "That doesn't mean I'm playing better or worse. It just means that I'm shooting the ball well."via Stefan Bondy of the New York Daily News
After hitting career-lows in a multitude of categories, he's managed to pick it up for at least his last two games. For the season, he's averaging 6.7 points on 38.7% shooting. In his last two games, he's averaging 12.5 points on 67% shooting. A lot of it has to do with him no longer being "the man" of the team. Rather than a top two or three scoring option, he's now sitting back as the last starter for the ball to end with.
A small sample, yes, but so are the past six games where the Nets have shown a brand new face to this franchise. It's encouraging to see a future Hall-of-Famer, who some may think is already done, displaying glimpses of his old self. If he can keep it up, it will do wonders for the team as other also being to pick it up.
