Kyrie Irving is out against the Brooklyn Nets

The Brooklyn Nets are coming off a spectacular win against the Oklahoma City Thunder despite being down by 16 at one point. It definitely helps that Joe Johnson has a knack for making buzzer-beating game-winning shots. For them to turn this season around, they need to ride this momentum and energy into the upcoming games. With Kyrie Irving not travelling with the team for the game on Saturday, the odds appear to be in the Nets favor.

Mary Schmitt Boyer of Cleveland.com reported that Irving will miss his second consecutive games due to a left knee contusion. For the season, he's averaging 22.2 points and 6.1 assists per game. It's hard to believe that Cavaliers' back-up point guard Jarrett Jack will be to come close to imitating Irving's impact on the game.

This certainly helps Deron Williams, who played well against the Oklahoma City Thunder in last night's win after claiming that he's been playing through an (unspecified) injury. A solid performance against the Cavaliers could definitely boost his confidence as well as the team's. With a poor start to the season, the Nets have to find a way to turn it around and quick, or else they actually might be in danger of missing the playoffs.
