Nets give Hawks a Brooklyn beat-down in London with a 127-110 win

After a long stretch of off-days for both teams, the Nets and Hawks took a trip to England for the NBA's global game at the O2 Arena in London. It was all Brooklyn, to say the least, as Atlanta never really had a chance. The Nets pulled off a huge 127-110 victory. This was the first time this season that the Nets scored 30+ points in each of the first three quarters. The Nets now improve their record to 16-22 on the season, and are now 6-1 in 2014.

Neither team got off to a slow start offensively, but it almost looked as if defense was left in America. The Nets led Atlanta 65-53 at halftime, and Joe Johnson was that difference maker in the half. Johnson, or as Kevin Garnett calls him Joe Jesus, put up 26 points in the half alone on 10/13 shooting. This was the second time in three games that Johnson had 20+ points at halftime, as he put up 26 points in the first half of the game against the Miami Heat.

Fortunately, nobody had to witness a disastrous second half from Brooklyn. The Nets completely blew Atlanta out of the water in the second half as the offense continued to dominate while the defense stepped up big time. They led 99-74 after three quarters, and it was pretty much over at that moment. The third-stringers came in with seven minutes left to play in the fourth quarter, and that signaled the end of the game for good. Brooklyn put on a display of basketball that hasn't been seen much this season, and they finished off the Hawks with a 127-110 victory.

It was Joe Johnson's game in the first half, but he didn't get the opportunity to keep it going as the Nets turned the game into a blowout. He finished with 29 points on 11/15 shooting while also grabbing four rebounds and dishing out five assists. When Joe went to the bench for good, Andray Blatche did his thing while adding 20 points, 14 rebounds, and six assists. Garnett continued his efficient scoring that has finally come to him, putting up 12 points on 6/8 shooting in just 18 minutes. Speaking of finding some scoring ability, Paul Pierce continued to play good basketball, putting up 18 points and dishing out six assists.

When every Nets player that got minutes scores, you know it's a blowout. Reggie Evans was the lone Net to not get playing time tonight, but the bench put up a combined 47 points, 24 rebounds, and 20 of the Nets' 38 assists.

The Nets won this game in blowout fashion for one reason: three point shooting. They shot 16/27 from behind the three point line. That's an impressive 59.3%. The Nets have had their struggles from behind the line this season, but it seems as if they have turned a corner. With Pierce and Johnson having found their strokes from behind the line, the Nets look to be on their way to being the kind of team they were expected to be. A team that can beat anybody that gets thrown at them.
