The Nets followed up their win in Dallas Saturday night with a very good win tonight in Brooklyn against the team with the best record in the NBA, the Golden State Warriors. Brooklyn led basically the entire game but the Warriors gave the Nets a scare late in the game.
Brooklyn got off to a pretty fast start as they led Golden State 33-23 after the first quarter. The Nets couldn't extend their lead past 10 but they kept a steady lead throughout the game until late in the fourth quarter when MVP candidate Stephen Curry tied the game at 108.
Jarrett Jack saved the day for Brooklyn. With 20 seconds remaining, Andrew Bogut made an errand pass that went out of bounds. Leaving the Nets with last shot and Jack did it again. Jack hit a tough contested mid range jumper with 1.3 seconds to go. That won it as the Warriors couldn't get a shot off in time.
Nets were led by Deron Williams who recorded his second consecutive 20+ point game. Williams had 22 points and 4 assists. Through 3 quarters, Williams had outplayed Curry who struggled early on as did his Splash Brother mate, Klay Thompson. Thompson was 3/17 from the floor and 1/9 from deep. Nothing went right for Klay tonight.
Brook Lopez also dropped 26 points off the bench on 11/22 shooting. Alan Anderson also had a very good game scoring 16 points while shooting 70% from the floor.
The Nets are now 4-2 since the All-Star break. With wins against the Lakers, Nuggets, Mavericks and now Warriors. The two losses came against the Pelicans and Rockets. So far, the Nets look pretty good since the break.
Next up for the Nets will be Wednesday night at home against the Charlotte Hornets.
