Brook Lopez Calls Injury "Minor Setback"

During a three day trip to the Phillipines, Brook Lopez hopped onto the stage and greeted the Filipinos with "Mabuhay" and was greeted with tons of cheers in return. Although several of them probably did not even know who he was, somebody who was at the event has said a few thought he was Pau Gasol, Lopez did not let the anonymity get to him. He was representing the Brooklyn Nets for a NBA 3x3 competition. He was joined with Magic's mascot "Stuff" (really?) and the Bobcats dancers.

Aside from the NBA 3x3 event, he interacted with several fans, was in a music concert, and even played a little basketball himself.  In one of his talks with the Filipinos at hand, he stated "I'm doing great. My foot's well and I'm ready for the season to start already. I'm ready to go.”

In a one-on-one interview later on, Lopez was asked how he felt about the injury that left him to play only five games in an already shortened NBA season.
“From injuries, you just never let it get you down. You have minor setbacks. But you just keep going and keep working to be your best.”
Coming off two different foot-related injuries, Nets fans can only hope that this was only a "minor setback" in the career of the offensively-talented center. Lopez said he was around 90% ready at the event but should be completely ready when the season starts. Nets fans are hoping that's right, because a lot of their season relies on the newly signed center.
