Deron Williams Was Not a Happy Net

Playing on a team that went 22-44, the first losing season Williams ever was a part of, may be a cause of that.

In an interview with HoopsHype, Deron talked about last season, with the Nets and Beskitas. About Beskitas, he said that he had been thinking about playing there for years, because he had been warned to prepare for a lockout. He just wanted to play basketball somewhere when the NBA was locked out. He mentioned that he played off the ball a lot, which he enjoyed.

In response to if playing overseas is helping him in the Olympics, Deron said, "I definitely think it helped me. I don't know how much of an advantage I have. I think it helped me to play over there for four months and get a steady dose of the international game."

When talking about free agency, Deron said he "enjoyed and didn't enjoy it at the same time." He liked that he could choose where he wanted to go but was very torn on whether to go to Dallas or Brooklyn. He was not surprised by the spending spree by the Nets, saying that he knew they were going to be aggressive.

When asked about last season, he said it was his toughest, "by far". Playing alongside the likes of several D-Leaguers and a starting Sheldon Williams can do that to you. Deron said it was even worse than his rookie season, where although he did not play big minutes, his team was at least winning, ending on a record of 41-41.

The current Nets team is completely different from last season, and could be possible contenders.

Only time will tell. I think everybody has to go through Miami. They are the team to beat," Deron said. "We have just to come together as a team, we're going to be a brand new team trying to adjust to each other so you never know how things will turn out.
