Optimism is in the air of Brooklyn and the thoughts of most Nets fans. The team is riding the hype-train, Jay Z is conducting it, and the team is poised to have a comeback season of the decade. There is justification with this immense change in Nets attitudes. Even the players are showing off their confidence, with Joe Johnson being the most vocal of the players, saying that the Nets are better than the Nets, and that this team is a championship caliber squad. Deron, whose been talking much more that expected, even said the Nets would win "over 50, definitely".
What's slightly more surprising is that even quiet, veteran Gerald Wallace is giving his own two cents.
"This is probably the most talented team I've been on," the swingman said, "since I was in Sacramento."Here's a few things you should know about that Sacramento team.
- Gerald Wallace barely started for that team
- In his three years on the team, the Kings won 61 games, 59 wins and 55 wins during the 2001-2004 seasons
- The team went to the Western Conference Finals in each of those three seasons, and the elder fans know about what happened in that match-up against the Lakers.
Overall, that was one talented team. To be comparing this team, who has never played a single game together, not even a preseason match-up speaks volumes about the confidence that this team has in itself. With confidence comes expectations, and the Nets players sure are setting the bar high for themselves.
