Nets Home Opener In Jeopardy

The highly anticipated Brooklyn Nets home opener may be out on hold due to Hurricane Sandy.

The National Basketball Association will be evaluating the circumstances due to the devastation caused by Hurricane Sandy to determine whether the conditions are safe enough for fans to go to Barclays Center and watch the game. Some main factors that would be involved in making the decision are any energy problems, how quickly mass transit can be restored, especially the subway systems, and how safe it is for the general public.
Barclays Center intentionally made the subway system to be the ideal way to arrive to the games, which resulted in limited parking spots. The exit for the subway on Atlantic Avenue opens up to the entrance of Barclays Center, so the status on that station in particular will likely play a huge role. Eleven subways total are linked to Barclays Center, and if most are up and running, the home opener could possibly not be postponed.

The Nets game against the Toronto Raptors on Saturday is still under review. So far, no games have been cancelled and all games for tonight will be played with no hindrances.
