Nets @ Celtics Recap: Brooklyn Brawlers

The Nets came into Boston looking for their second win against the Celtics in the young season. They found a way to pull it off as they took out the Celtics 95-83. This game was a test for Brooklyn, and they passed it with ease. They are now 10-4 on the season and hold the first place spot in the Atlantic division.

Things were going the Nets' way all game. They took care of business as they usually do in the first half. Things got chippy in the second quarter when Kris Humphries fouled Kevin Garnett, causing Rajon Rondo to start a tussle. Humphries ended up getting ejected, along with Rondo and Gerald Wallace. Kevin Garnett would also receive a technical foul for his role in the scuffle.

The second half was not impressive by either team. Something promising that occurred was that the Nets didn't blow a big lead in the third quarter like that have in past games this season. The Nets scored just 44 points in the second half and the Celtics put up 45.

The offense was truly a struggle for the Nets as they shot 40% from the field. The key stat that got them the win was the rebounding totals, out-rebounding Boston 50-40. Three players grabbed double digit rebounds for the first time this season. Andray Blatche grabbed 13 while Brook Lopez and Reggie Evans each grabbed 10.

Jerry Stackhouse was clearly a key to this game, as he has been the past two games as well. He finished the game with 17 points and three steals shooting five of six from behind the three point line. It seems as though Stackhouse has found the fountain of youth. His shot these past two games has been on point. He's made nine out of his last twelve three point attempts. Joe Johnson is also beginning to find his shot as he finished with 18 points, six assists and four rebounds.

In a game that would show if the Nets could truly stick with the top teams, they thrived. It was an all-out team win tonight without two of their starters for over half the game. The "bench-mob" is continue to prove it's value on this team, scoring 52 of the teams 95 points. MarShon Brooks was a non-participant again in tonight's game.

Final Result: 95-83, Nets
Disappointing Stat of the Game: Deron Williams shot 3-12 from the field
Promising Stat of the Game: Nets forced 17 turnovers
Scary Moment of the Game: Brook Lopez coming up limping after layup attempt
Best Moment of the Game: Reggie Evans hitting a 15 foot jumper at the end of the shot clock
