Nets vs Pistons Recap: Joe For The Win!

After one of the ugliest wins of the season over the Toronto Raptors yesterday, the Nets welcomed Lawrence Frank and the Detroit Pistons to Brooklyn by beating them 107-105 in double overtime.

After an extremely sloppy first quarter, the Nets came out firing in the second. They went on a 24-1 run and outscored Detroit 36-22 to put them up 59-47 at halftime. The defense was great in the first half with Brook Lopez back to patrolling the paint. He finished the game with nine points, four rebounds and three blocks in just 24 minutes of play. This was his first game back after spraining his foot against the Celtics on November 28th.

The second half was a completely different story. The usual thing happened where the Nets go into the third with a double digit lead and then blow it. They trailed by six at one point. Once the fourth quarter rolled around, things were just as ugly. But Gerald Wallace and his incredible hustle kept the Nets going. He was the deciding factor in this game and finished with 25 points, 10 rebounds, two steals and two blocks.

Joe Johnson carried the team most of the way with Wallace's assistance and he finished the game with 28 points, five assists and one game winning buzzer beater in the second overtime. His shooting was spot on pretty much all night as he shot 12/22 from the field. Deron Williams continues to struggle shooting the ball, though. He shot just 7/17 from the field for 17 points. He also dished out six assists. Turnovers continue to be an issue for Deron. He finished with five of the team's 11 turnovers.

The self proclaimed "bench mob" got back to doing their thing with Andray Blatche not starting anymore. 28 point's came from three of the bench players, Blatche (16) and C.J. Watson and MarShon Brooks (6). Reggie Evans got his third start in a row and finished with 10 rebounds, two steals and a block.

This was another ugly game for the Nets, but they are still beating the teams they should be beating. No matter what the margin is by, a win is a win.
