The game pretty much belonged to the Nets from the opening tip. Shots were falling early and Brooklyn ended up out-scoring Orlando 30-20 in the first quarter. The second quarter, though, was no different for the Nets. The hot shooting continued as they once again out-scored Orlando 26-20. Deron Williams went into halftime with 18 points on 7-8 shooting from the field. Defense was solid all around as the Magic were not being allowed many easy shots.
In the second half, thinks started to look glum. Especially in the dreaded third quarter where the Nets have had their struggles all year. They managed to put up just 14 points tonight as the defensive intensity by Orlando picked up. Turnovers and silly shots helped the Nets lose their once 18 point lead. Orlando would eventually cut it down to six. But that would be as close as they got as the Nets found their consistency again in the fourth quarter. Brooklyn out-scored Orlando 27-14 in that fourth quarter with a lot of the production coming from the bench.
Almost every Nets player produced in some shape or form. Deron Williams led all scorers with 20 and also dished out nine assists. Brook Lopez put up 16 points and five rebounds along with a blocked shot. Joe Johnson added 13 points of his own. That's a combined 49 points for the big three. The "bench mob" came out huge in the victory, scoring a combined 41 points. The bench was led by Keith Bogans who had 12 points on 4-7 shooting, all from the three point line.
