Brooklyn Nets guard Deron Williams is expected to miss at least the next two games with inflammation in both of his ankles. According to various reports, Williams will miss the next two games due to synovitis, which is inflammation of ankle joint linings in both of his ankles. Williams received platelet rich plasma treatment on both ankles earlier today according to the Brooklyn Nets. He is expected to play again after the All-Star break, which is a long needed rest for Deron Williams.
After the season, Deron said he might need to undergo surgery.
Even with the various injuries, Williams has missed only one game to date. In his absence, MarShon Brooks and Tyshawn Taylor will likely see more playing time.
In 50 games this season, Williams is putting up averages of 16.7 points, 7.6 assists and 3.3 rebounds per game in one of his worst years in his professional career. His decline has often been attributed to his variety of injuries which could be holding him back. It's rare for a player to fall from grace so quickly without external interference. Although his shooting numbers are higher than they've ever been in his Nets days, it is still low. Over 37% of his shots are coming from beyond the three point line and just a 33.6% come from within the paint.
