Derrick Rose to Miss Game 1, Probably Entire Series

Chicago Bulls' Derrick Rose has been ruled out of the postseason opener by coach Tom Thibodeau. It did not come as a surprise, but it gave a sense that Rose, who hoped to be back for the postseason, may not play this season at all.

The last time Rose played was in last season's postseason opener, when he tore his ACL and the Bulls went on to lost to the Philadelphia 76ers.

Rose may be missing the first game, but the organization is not ready to rule him out completely yet, according to Nick Friedell of ESPN.

"He's most likely out but you never know," Thibodeau said. "The playoffs are stretched out, too, so you have to factor that in. So who knows another week from now where he is? You always want to leave that possibility open."
"Whenever he can come back, he comes back."

As of now, the fifth seeded Bulls will have to face the Brooklyn Nets without their superstar. In the regular season, this was not a problem for them as they went out to sweep the season series against them, winning by large margins. But that was before Deron Williams found himself again, and the team has been completely different ever since. As of now, the Nets will take it one game at a time, as will Derrick Rose.
