Deron Williams Named Eastern Conference Player of the Week

Deron Williams backs down Evan Fournier.

Deron Williams was named Eastern Conference Player of the Week for games played between the dates of November 3 and November 9, the NBA announced in a press release. Stephen Curry was named player of the week for the West.

Williams led the Nets to a 3-1 record that included wins over the Oklahoma City Thunder and the New York Knicks. He averaged 20.8 points and 7.0 assists on 56.9% shooting for the week. Against the Knicks on Friday, he put up 29 points on 10-15 shooting from the field and dished out 6 assists in a 110-99 Brooklyn victory.

This is Deron’s fourth time receiving this honor, and his first as a Net.  He becomes the 22nd different Net to win the award, and the first since Joe Johnson won it last season.

So far, Williams is proving many people wrong in the early part of this season who said he was “done”. Sure, we’re only six games into the season, but he finally looks healthy and ready to lead this Nets team, which is great to see.
