Nets Fall to Grizzlies for Seventh Straight Loss

Coming off of a blowout loss to the Houston Rockets, the Nets took on the Memphis Grizzlies in Lionel Hollins' first game against his former team. The Nets were no match for the Grizzlies, as they lost their seventh consecutive game.

The Nets started the game on a 10-4 run, but Memphis responded with an early run of their own. Mason Plumlee put on an early dunk display, and continued being a bright spot for the struggling Nets. Brooklyn started off making their first four shots, but made just seven of their next 20 shots. Courtney Lee had his revenge on the Nets in the first quarter, scoring 15 points in the quarter. The Grizzlies led the Nets 32-23 after the first quarter.

After a sloppy first quarter, the Nets came out scorching in the second quarter with a 12-2 run that helped them regain the lead. Mirza Teletovic sparked the run, hitting three three pointers. Memphis was able to respond, though, and took the lead once again at halftime, 51-45

The second half rolled along, and the Nets continued to let Memphis score at will. The Grizzlies were getting to the basket with ease because they were able to out-run the Nets' rim protector, Brook Lopez. They got off to a 13-4 run to start the quarter on the back of Zach Randolph, who abused the Nets in the paint and on the glass. The Nets were simply no match for Memphis, whose lead swelled to 19 at one point in the third quarter. The shooting was poor, the ball-security was lackluster, and the defense was mediocre. All of these were factors in Memphis' lead growing so large.

Brooklyn continued to get crushed on the offensive glass, but were able to hold defensively so Memphis could not capitalize on their second chance opportunities. The Nets' turnover struggles continued, as nobody seems to be on the same page on this team. The effort put forth in the final quarter was too little, too late as Memphis pulled off the blowout victory.

Darius Morris came out with tremendous energy, reaching double figures in scoring (11 points) for the second time this season. His energy and effort off the bench have earned him his fair share of minutes, especially with Deron Williams out.

Mason Plumlee led the Nets with 15 points on 7-9 shooting, as well as nine rebounds. Mirza Teletovic contributed 12 points and six rebounds, and both Bojan Bogdanovic and Brook Lopez added 11 points.

For Memphis, they were led by Zach Randolph's 20 points and 14 rebounds. Marc Gasol added 18 points and eight rebounds, and Courtney Lee contributed 18 points.

Final Score: 103-92, Grizzlies
Most Disappointing Stat of the Game: Joe Johnson's eight points on 3-12 shooting.
Promising Stat of the Game: Nets shooting 48 percent from the field.
Scariest Moment of the Game: Everything...
Best Moment of the Game: Mason Plumlee slamming it down.
