It was announced earlier that rookie small forward Tornike Shengelia, aka Toko, would be sent down to the Nets D-League affiliate Springfield Armor for the third time this season.
In three games with the Armor, Shengelia is averaging 28.3 points on 64.3 percent shooting, 13.7 rebounds, 7.0 assists, 3.0 steals and 1.7 blocks. This demotion will be good for the rookie, as he will get time to play and develop his game rather than sit on the bench and be forced to watch the rest of the team get time on the court.
This move is not only good for Toko, but it is also good for the Nets. They will now have more flexibility if they choose to sign an available player by 11:59 tonight. Donte Greene could be a solid option to give Brooklyn more depth at the small forward position. There are other available players, such as Hakim Warrick, Omri Casspi, and Raja Bell. Though none of them have been linked to the Nets, they are some solid options to help the team improve slightly.
