The Nets got thrashed by the Timberwolves in the first quarter. Kevin Love alone put up nine points and grabbed 11 rebounds in the quarter alone as the Wolves outscored the Nets 30-14. The Nets got tons of open shots, but they were just unable to hit them. After Kevin Garnett hit the Nets' first shot of the game, the team went 3-18 from the field for the rest of the quarter.
The Nets didn't see quite the same struggles on the offensive end in the second quarter, but the defense continued giving up an abundance of points. They were, again, outscored by Minnesota 27-23 in the quarter. If there was anything good the Nets did in the first half, it's that regardless of Love's 12 rebounds, the Nets are out-rebounding the Wolves 25-23.
It was your prototypical Nets third quarter as Minnesota gave them a whooping. It got so bad that Jason Kidd called upon Mirza Teletovic, Tornike Shengelia, and Tyshawn Taylor to rack up some minutes. Minnesota outscored Brooklyn 33-21 in the quarter. The Wolves' lead got up to 34 at one point in the third thanks to a 19-2 run.
The third stringers remained in for the rest of the game, and the Nets won their first quarter of the game outscoring the Wolves 23-21 in the fourth. Unfortunately for the Nets, they were already down 32 points by the beginning of the quarter.
Andray Blatche led the Nets with 16 points. Joe Johnson added 15 points on 6-10 shooting. Mirza Teletovic added seven points and seven rebounds off the bench. All five Minnesota starters finished with double figure scoring numbers, but they were led by Kevin Love's 17 points and 16 rebounds.
