Jason Kidd doesn't think his message to the players is clear

The Nets got stomped on by the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday night, leading people to think that this team is not capable of being a top-tier team.

Head Coach Jason Kidd sees the problem as being that the players aren't quite getting his message.

“That’s a very good question,” Kidd said when asked why he isn’t getting through to his unraveling team. “Because we've written on the board. We've talked about it. The coaches have talked about it. As players, at some point they have to accept it, and maybe our message isn't clear enough.”

Well judging by what we all saw happen in Minnesota, that is quite the obvious statement.

The Nets have been nothing short of disastrous through the first 12 games of the season. With nobody playing consistent defense, this team doesn't stand a chance. Things can be turned around, though. If Jason Kidd truly wants to get his message across, he will have to be more involved within the coaching staff. Instead of having his assistants draw up every play, Kidd will need to take care of that himself and allow the assistants to do their job, which is assisting the head coach.

The only way the Nets could be more disappointing would be if they had a fully healthy team. It hasn't been the best start health-wise considering Deron Williams and Brook Lopez, the Nets' two best players, have missed games due to ankle sprains. It also doesn't help that the biggest piece of the bench, Andrei Kirilenko, hasn't played since November 8th when the Nets fell to the Washington Wizards. With back spasms lingering for Kirilenko, this may be a cause for concern.

The Nets surely have been disappointing, and the players know it.

“We've created this monster, and we’ve got to deal with it,” Garnett said. “You’re going to have the business of basketball come into play, I’m sure, and management is probably going to do what they’ve got to do, and that’s out of our hands,” he said. “We control our destiny, who we are as individuals and players, so you’ve got to, again, for the fifth time I’m saying this, you have to look at yourself and try to fix this thing. 

"What are you going to do? Are you going to quit?” Garnett added. “Quitting’s not an option, so we’re going to continue to fight and try to turn this thing around.”
