Andray Blatche just "playing the game" when it comes to three pointers

The Brooklyn Nets have not been playing the best their first month of the season, but there have been a few bright spots. One of them has been center Andray Blatche.

Blatche started off the season slowly, like most of the team, but has picked it up over the last nine games. In that span he's been shooting an impressive 55% from the field and has slowly been expanding his range over the last few games. Blatche has shot at least one 3 in the last five games, including going 3-for-3 in the win against the Memphis Grizzlies.

However, Blatche insists that he will not turn himself into a three-pointer shooter, according to Rod Boone of Newsday. When questioned about his success from beyond the arc in Saturday's win, Blatche responded with:

"The shot presented itself and I took it," Blatche said. "It's all about playing the game. Don't think. Just react."

As for not falling in love with shooting from long-range

"Take it when it presents itself," Blatche said. "I’m not going to be sitting behind the three and try to pull up for three. But if it's there, I’m going to take it."

Coach Jason Kidd seems to agree with Blatche's ideology about choosing when to take threes or not.

"He’s got to take the shot that presents itself and those were all in-rhythm shots that he took from behind the arc," Kidd said. "And you can totally see he was into the game and just not offensively, but defensively. He was talking out there. He's like KG -- a guy that guys can feed off and that's what he did."

With the return of Brook Lopez, Blatche will likely take a backseat in the team's offensive game play but he will still be given considerable playing time. If Blatche continue his level of play and efficiency, he will be key to getting the Nets back on track.
