Andrei Kirilenko still has no timetable for return

After providing some sorely needed energy off the bench early in the season for the Brooklyn Nets, forward Andrei Kirilenko still has no timetable for his return to action due to his back spasms, according to ESPN New York's Mike Mazzeo.

Kirilenko said that he is "afraid of giving a timetable, because in the previous occasions, we've given a timetable, but it doesn't work" and that, right now, he is working on "a lot of physical therapy and kind of strengthening the core."

The 6'9" Russian has endured two epidurals and only played in four games this season, averaging just 13.3 minutes per contest. He is currently sitting on the bench with a litany of other injured Nets, including star point guard Deron Williams and swingmen Paul Pierce and Jason Terry.

Kirilenko is 32 years old, but put up very solid numbers last season with Minnesota. The forward averaged 12.4 points per game on over 50 percent shooting to go with 5.7 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and more than one steal, block, and offensive rebound per game. Kirilenko did miss 18 of Minnesota's games in 2012-13.

The Nets are depleted at the small forward position with Kirilenko and Pierce out. Alan Anderson remains the starter alongside Joe Johnson on the wing spots.

Andrei Kirilenko signed with the Brooklyn Nets on a $3.1 million mini-midlevel exception deal. Check out the NBA/NFL comparison in salaries on average plus more.
