Deron Williams has been named to the preliminary pool of players for the National Team Roster for USA Basketball, the Brooklyn Nets announced today.

"I am very excited to be named to the USA Basketball National Team," Williams stated through the Nets. "There is no greater honor than to represent your country and I am looking forward to the next three years as we prepare for the upcoming World Cup and the 2016 Olympics."Williams is a two-time Olympic gold medalist (in 2008 and 2012). He also has a very impressive Olympic track record, as he is tied for fourth all-time in games played (16), tied for fourth in three-pointers (22), and sixth in assists (59) among all American Olympians. USA Basketball is 16-0 in games that Williams plays in.

Los Angeles Clippers: Chris Paul, Blake Griffin
Miami: LeBron James
Minnesota: Kevin Love

Williams is the only Net in this list and is one of seven point guards.
Twelve will ultimately make the team, coached by Mike Krzyzewski of Duke University, who has a 62-1 record as head coach of the national team.
