Johnson isn't really the guy you'd expect to participate in the competition. He's shooting 38.9 percent from behind the three point line this season, which is the second highest percentage of his career. The thing about Johnson is that he doesn't rely on his three point shooting. He's a big shooting guard who can shoot from anywhere on the court, but isn't a pure three point shooter.
Joe will have a lot of work to do in order to win the competition. He'll have to compete against Stephen Curry of the Warriors, Marco Belinelli of the Spurs, Kevin Love of the Timberwolves, Aaron Afflalo of the Magic, Bradley Beal of the Wizards, Kyrie Irving of the Cavaliers, and Damien Lillard of the Trail Blazers.
It was thought that if a Net was going to participate in the shootout, it would be Mirza Teletovic. But he was passed on, and Joe Johnson will be the first Net to participate since Anthony Morrow in 2012.
