Dwight Publicizes That He Wanted Nets

If anything else, this is just clarification that every reporter had already confirmed: Dwight Howard had the (then) New Jersey Nets as his first option.

After a year of speculation and deals forming and breaking in the blink of an eye, the prized center was traded across the country, to another conference, to the Lakers who continues its dominance of having talented centers. From Jabbar, to Shaq and now Howard, the Lakers now once again pose to take the NBA title.
Yet, Dwight Howard wanted to go to the Nets, to join them in Brooklyn. At least, he did.
"I did want to go to Brooklyn. That's a place where I told the Magic that I really wanted to go," to Stephen A. Smith and Ryan Ruocco on ESPN NewYork 98.7 FM. "[But] I was traded to the Lakers, and I think it was a blessing in disguise.
" … I think there's a reason why everything happened the way it happened. So far it's been an unbelievable experience for me. … It's like a dream come true."
A slap in the face to the Nets? King offered several deals, worked all year to create trades that would only fall through due to the Magic and even Dwight Howard himself. With a chance to land a spot on the Nets, Dwight decided to waive his ETO and committed to staying in Orlando, showing his loyalty. The ending to that does not need to be reiterated.

The Nets may have lost this battle, but Dwight feels like it was worth it.
"I thought I was going to get traded at the beginning of the year, actually, that's when I asked for it. But everything happened for a reason. I had to go through last year to get to where I'm at today. It's made me a stronger and better person for it. I had to go through the hell and the stormy forecast to come out to a place like this … and I'm thankful for it."
There it is, Dwight's "secret" confession. He wanted the Nets, ended up in Los Angeles and apparently does not have any regrets.
