The Brooklyn Nets preseason debut against the Philadelphia 76ers was nothing short of exciting. The Nets had complete control of the game while the starters played, compiling a 18 point lead at most. Brook Lopez proved his worth with 19 points and 9 rebounds in three quarters of work and Deron Williams added 14 points and 6 assists in three quarters as well. Joe Johnson dropped 13 points to go with 3 assists.
Kris Humphries started the Brooklyn Nets era with a slam for the first points of the game. The Nets jumped on a 11-0 run late in the first and pretty much cruised from there for the majority of the game. In the second half Gerald Wallace scored nine of the team's first 11 points. But once the starters took a seat, things turned for the worst.
The bench came in the fourth and everything started to go downhill. They squandered the Nets 15 point lead and were outscored 31-16 in the fourth and could not contain the Sixers players. Mirza Teletovic could be held responsible for the Nets cold streak, as he shot just 2-11 from beyond the arc. Avery did give him the green light to shoot but he almost shot the team out of the game. The game went to overtime with the score of 95-95.
In overtime the Sixers took their first lead of the game but could not hold on to it as the Nets pulled away with a 108-105 overtime win in their first game back in NJ.
