Newly acquired New York Knicks center Marcus Camby will miss the next seven to 10 days due to a left calf strain. Camby missed today's practice and underwent an MRI after suffering the injury during New York's first week of training camp. It is expected that Camby misses the first two preseason games, against the Wizards and Celtics on October 11th and October 13th, respectively.
It doesn't look like Woodson has high expectations for Camby this year, as he was quoted to have said
"I'm not looking for Marcus to play 30 minutes a game anymore, so if we can just keep him healthy enough to give us some productive minutes -- if it's two, three, four minutes -- that's going to be a plus for our ballclub."
Camby just recently signed a three-year deal this off-season for $14.2 million to back up Chandler. Injuries had been an issue in the past for him, and it looks like this year will not be an exception. With the surplus of veterans on the Knicks team, it is expected that an influx of injuries will occur, unfortunately.
Last year, between Portland and Houston, Camby averaged 4.9 points and nine rebounds in 22.9 minutes of play.
