Nets vs Celtics Recap

The Brooklyn Nets faced the Celtics on Tuesday night which turned out to be very interesting. You probably would have thought otherwise if you had seen that Avery Johnson gave his starters the night off. But hey, why not? You get a chance to see what the bench is made of even if you are missing  MarShon Brooks. The game was definitely entertaining.  Rajon Rondo dazzled the crowd with his signature passing finishing with 11 assists. Paul Pierce scorched the Nets with 29 points hitting 10 out of 17 shots. Pierce even hit 6 three pointers! Those stats sound like a blowout but the Nets showed character.

Andray Blatche led the Nets with 23 points and had an efficient game. He made 8 out of 12 shots and converted 7 out of 9 free throws. This is only the third game but Andray Blatche is playing with something to prove. Andray Blatche may challenge MarShon for the sixth man award if this type of play continues. Mirza Teletovic is not afraid to chuck from long-range, shooting 10 three pointers and making 4. It is still too early to tell but it seems like Avery is letting it slide or maybe he is giving teams something to ponder for their scouting reports. Only time will tell, but it will be something to watch. Tornike Shengelia also had a good game. 11 points is pretty good off the bench added with a thunderous dunk late in the fourth quarter to take the lead. Overall the bench played solid against the Celtics. The Nets fought through the 10 point deficit late in the fourth quarter and finished with the victory. Defensively they have some work to do but this team is showing signs of toughness which is something championship teams have.  This may be the preseason but  you can take positives from the games they played so far. There is still a long way to go and much more progress to be made but I can't wait to see what the Brooklyn Nets do when the regular season starts.
