Nets at Blazers Recap: Monster Evans

The Nets win, guaranteed there first winning season since 2006 and tied the franchise road record at 20. This happened without Joe Johnson who was still bothered by his quadriceps. Keith Bogans and MarShon Brooks stepped up and gave the Nets a lift for most of the game.

Brook Lopez and Reggie Evans dominated the first quarter. Evans grabbed 10 rebounds and even scored 9. Lopez scored 11 and the front-court for the Nets sent a message out early. The teams shot 56% from the field and the team won the rebound battle at 18 to 3. All of this production gave the team a twenty point lead and early minutes for the bench. MarShon Brooks and Andray Blatche were the stars off the bench. Brooks hit two three pointers and even made a couple of good defensive plays. LaMarcus Aldridge injured his foot coming down on Evans and it bothered him defensively.

Their largest lead was at 29 and the starters were well rested. Carlesimo did decide to bring the starters back within five minutes of the half and they managed to stop the Blazers run. Damian Lillard was held scoreless for the half. Lopez was the game's leading scorer with 17 but Evans had 11 and 14 by the HALF. Aldridge posted 18 and that was basically it for Portland in the first half. The 64 points they scored tied the second highest  for the first half this season.

Brooklyn kept the lead over twenty for the entire game and Reggie Evans was the key. He tied his career high in points with 22, but set a new high in rebounds with 26. Lopez finished with 28 and Williams dished out 10 assists. Lillard came alive in the second half with 15 but the Blazers needed more. Besides Aldridge who scored 24, the rest of the team did not help until late into the fourth quarter. Brooklyn is now 4 and 1 on the current road trip.
