The Playoffs are near and like other teams in the league, the Nets are battling injuries. Along with that, P.J. Carlesimo is still struggling to find the perfect eight man rotation . MarShon Brooks says he can put up 20 points a night if was given more minutes but that is unlikely even if he establishes a rhythm. Brook Lopez will get most of the possessions to score and if not, Deron Williams and Joe Johnson are right behind him. The Nets have spiked their style slightly but they do not score enough in transition, leaving Brooks to be a spot up shooter where he has struggled. Jerry Stackhouse gave the Nets valuable minutes but has been unavailable due to injuries. Carlesimo want's him back for the playoffs.
“I hope (Stackhouse will be a factor in the playoffs),” Carlesimo said. “I think a lot is going to depend on how other guys play. How he’s practices. And frankly, they’ll be some more serious questions between myself and him and (GM Billy King) going forward.”
“I think we have to see what happens with our other guys. We have a plan and hopefully he’s going to help us again the way he helped us earlier in the year,” Carlesimo said. “I think we’re still at the stage where we want to get MarShon some more minutes, perhaps Tyshawn Taylor. …But Stack helped us strongly win some games early in the year, and I think the potential is there. Especially if we’re fortunate enough to make the playoffs, I think his experience becomes something that’s more valuable. So yeah, that’s something we need to define better than we are now.”
MarShon is playing on ice but has been playing decent. His shooting needs to improve but he has been rebounding and trying to make plays on both sides of the ball. Keith Bogans, will also be in the mix and will likely get more minutes because of his aggressive defense and three point shooting. Things will get quite interesting in the front-court for the remainder of the season.
