The Brooklyn Nets continue to strike up events that draw attention to the organization. Many contain famous people to bring an audience. This next event is no different.
The Brooklyn Nets is set to host a sneaker-themed art competition, which seems to relate a lot to the organization. The organization and Jay Z put an emphasis on creating stylish Nets gear to go with a new, stylish arena to host a new, "stylish" team.
The event will take place at the Cyber Cafe at LIU Brooklyn on Saturday and is meant to give participants to express their creativity and show off their artistic abilities. According to Lance Madden Forbes, the judge of this competition will be Brooklyn-born rapper Fabulous. The two-time Grammy-nominated rapper will take a small break from producing his next album to act as the judge.
If a player was going to be the judge, I would expect Joe Johnson considering he has a shoe closet bigger than some people's living rooms. Then again, the Nets like to attract the big names from outside the basketball world, and Fabulous it is.

“My connection with the Nets is strong, being from Brooklyn,” Fabolous said. “And the Nets, they really care about the people in Brooklyn. It’s not just a place to play basketball; it’s about community.”
“One thing about the Nets is that they have a black and white jersey. At first people didn’t think it was that dope because it was just black and white. But the black symbolizes so much stress and people see that now.”
“Brooklyn alone has a lot of pride,” Fabolous said. “That borough. You can say ‘Where Brooklyn at?’ anywhere you are, and at least one person will put their hand in the sky. It happens across the world. We have something to be proud about. The Nets establishment knows how powerful Brooklyn is and how passionate of a people we are. Brooklyn is more than just a borough. We have a strong presence.”As for how he plans on judging the artworks, he says he'll be looking something unique, a "dope combination of color" or something that will just surprise him. He claims he has an eye for fashion, and nice clothes and designs is his thing.
