There was talk of the Brooklyn Nets being the better team in New York immediately after Joe Johnson and Deron Williams became teammates .The majority assumed that this would be the best back-court in the league or at least second to Kobe Bryant and Steve Nash. Arguments can be made but the Nets back-court has been inconsistent which has plagued the team's record. With the unfortunate injuries to the New York Knicks and the NBA, the Nets have a chance to take the Atlantic division. They are only a game and a half back from doing so. Here is more of what Williams and Joe Johnson had to say about the situation.“I think it definitely would mean a lot to clinch the division title to the fans, to the organization, I think it would be huge. There’s no doubt about that,” Williams said.
"You always can be an injury away and they got two of their key guys hurt,” Joe Johnson said. “It’s unfortunate for them but in this league, you can’t feel sorry for anybody. We’re not worried about them at this point. We’re going to come out and try to handle our business and play like Brooklyn Nets.”The significance of an Atlantic Division title would be greatly appreciated since it has been seven years. It will not be an easy task due to the road trip and teams they face over the next week or so.Most of those team have a winning record and the Nets have struggled against the talent. Deron Williams will have to keep up the all-star level play and Joe Johnson needs to get healthy.
"I think no matter what other teams do, just because they’ve got some guys out, the Knicks are still a good team and they can still win games,” Williams said. “We’ve got to focus on us. We can’t worry about what other teams are doing. That’s the main thing. We have to win the games that are in front of us and we need to win these next two before we go to the West Coast to kind of get that kick-started and make sure that we have a lot of confidence and feel good about ourselves going into the road trip.”
