Nets at Pistons Recap: Complete Annihilation

The Nets came out and embarrassed the Detroit Pistons after a disappointing loss to the Hawks Sunday night. Keith Bogans was inactive which meant more minutes for MarShon Brooks.

First Half: Fouls were the story early in favor of Brooklyn. They were able to get the Detroit Pistons in the bonus with only four minutes played. Two consecutive three point plays were made and that sparked the offense. Deron Williams was active in all aspects of the stat sheet. His pace was high and he even connected on a rare alley-oop during a fast-break to Gerald Wallace. His play, added with Brook Lopez's, pushed the lead to 13 after the first. Greg Monroe was the only noticeable player for Detroit, scoring 6 and dishing out two assist. He would finish with 16 making all of his shots. Jerry Stackhouse, who hasn't played since January, was active tonight. He registered a surprising block and totaled 10 points for the night. MarShon Brooks did the same thing but gave the Nets a 14 point lead with a four point play later on. The Nets were making everything and besides Monroe, the Pistons struggled. They allowed the Nets to shoot almost 60 % from the field. Williams closed the half with 17 points, 4 assist and 2 steals.

Second Half: Lopez dominated the Pistons big men early, scoring 8 points in the third. Williams and Johnson followed up with a couple of baskets and the lead was 30. Brooklyn crushed the Pistons every way possible and even took care of the ball. Only 6 turnovers were committed to the Pistons 12. Williams had 14 points in the third and the game was basically over. The bench mob was emptied and there was a section in the arena that strictly cheered for Mirza Teletovic who scored 9 points. Their play gave the starters a much needed rest, considering the upcoming road trip. Williams finished with 31 on 10 of 18 shooting.
