Report: Brook Lopez Out for the Year with a Broken Foot

     AP
According to numerous reports, Nets center Brook Lopez has a broken foot. This will likely sideline him for the remainder of the year. Gary Tanguay was the first to report the news and NetsDaily was one of the first to confirm it.
This is obviously terrible new for the Brooklyn Nets. The team looked like they were just starting to turn things around, only to lose to the Philadelphia 76ers in overtime and lose Lopez for the year. This is the third time in the past four seasons that Lopez has broken his foot. This is also the fourth time in the past three years in which Lopez is require surgery on his feet.

Andy Vasquez tweeted that Brook Lopez possibly suffered the injury in the fourth quarter on this play during Friday night's loss to the Philadelphia 76ers. That would mean that Lopez played at least 10 minutes with a broken foot.

Rod Boone of Newsday tweeted that the Lopez fractured the fifth metatarsal in his right foot. That is the same place Lopez fractured his foot back in the 2011-2012 season. Just last year, Lopez had to get a screw replaced in the same foot.

Lopez, who was selected to his first All-Star game last year, was averaging 20.7 points, 6 rebounds, 1.8 blocks, and 56.3% shooting and was among the league leaders in rim protection.

Stay tuned for more coverage right here on Nets Take Over for updates and analysis on the injury.
