2014 New Year's Resolution: Alan Anderson

When the Brooklyn Nets signed guard/forward Alan Anderson back in July, it was widely accepted that he would not get much playing time. Anderson was mostly viewed as a depth signing, a player who would occasionally get some run behind Joe Johnson, Jason Terry, and Paul Pierce. Despite this, most people viewed the signing as a good one for the Nets. Anderson is a player who can effectively shoot the three and provide good defense.

When Anderson agreed to sign with the Nets, I’m sure no one, not even Anderson himself, could have predicted how his 2013-2014 season would begin.

Alan Anderson has been the most durable player for Brooklyn this year. The fifth-year player has played in all 31 games (one of only two Nets to do this, the other being Shaun Livingston), and he has started 13 of those games. While Anderson hasn’t necessarily excelled in his 25.3 minutes per game, he has been a very solid piece for this Nets team decimated by injuries. He is currently averaging 8.2 points per game on 42% shooting and 38% from three-point land while also providing good defense. In short, Anderson has been a steal for the Nets, especially on a veteran’s minimum contract.

Alan Anderson's New Year's Resolution: Keep doing what he’s doing: shooting three-pointers and playing good defense.
