Nets at Wizards Recap: Another Bad Night

Last time these  teams played, the  Nets needed two overtimes to beat this Washington Wizards team. They were without their best player John Wall. Despite their record,The Wizards have an talented team that possess a very good front-court with Nene and Emaka Okeafor. They gave the Nets many problems and the Nets did not do much to help until it was too late.

The first quarter was a back and forth battle. It was typical Nets basketball which featured post-ups for Brook Lopez, Joe Johnson and sometimes Deron Williams.  That quarter would end with the Wizards up by one but things would open up for the Wizards in the next. John Wall had his share of fast paced highlights but it was Nene who killed the Nets in that first half. He always gave the Nets problems and tonight was no different. It was a struggle offensively for the Nets. They couldn't make open shots so the Wizards eventually would push the lead to double digits. Nene led the Wizards with 14 and they held a twenty point lead at the half.

Brooklyn did not play well into late in the third quarter. Deron Williams rose from his nonchalant attitude and would score 11 points in the third, cutting the lead to at nine. He pushed the pace and started to look like the old Williams for a short period of time. Besides Williams, the Nets players really struggled. Johnson and Lopez really had a bad game and the bench was no where to be found. The Wizards bench outscored the Nets 45 to 13. The Nets struggle with fast teams and this team loves to get out and run. And when the game was in the half court, John Wall was able to get in the paint and make plays. They made seven three pointers which were fairly open by NBA standards. Nene led the Wizards with 20 points and  Martel Webster surprisingly scored 15. John Wall finished with 15 ,9 assist and 4 steals . His play  ignited this team and it will be fun to watch for the rest of the season. Lopez had a terrible shooting night, finishing with only three made field goals for 13 points.

The Nets have to play better than this. They sometimes struggle to get easy baskets and when they are not making three pointers, the team will most likely lose in a blowout. They face the Spurs at home next so they need to get their act together fast. The schedule gets harder from here on out for a while.
