Nets in Talks for Bobcats' Ben Gordon

Multiple reports are out there stemming from Chris Broussard saying that the Brooklyn Nets and Charlotte Bobcats are in talks for a Kris Humphries - Ben Gordon swap. This works out financially since both make around $12 million for the year.

The talks began on the Bobcats side according to reports.

What Ben Gordon brings to the Nets, if the deal falls through, is that he can help space the floor. In Charlotte, Gordon is shooting 41.7% from beyond the arc to go with 13.1 points per 22.1 minutes per game. As Broussard put it, "Ranked 21st in the league in 3-point shooting, Brooklyn regularly has seen opponents clog the lane."

The Nets also have a logjam with their big men rotation with Reggie Evans, Kris Humphries, Andray Blatche, Brook Lopez and Mirza Teletovic all fighting for minutes. With MarShon Brooks buried in the bench, Gordon will be a man who can provide a spark off the bench while allowing the Nets to spread the floor in games down the stretch.

The Bobcats have shown interest in Kris Humphries before, during his free agency period. With Kemba Walker, Gerald Henderson and Ramon Sessions at the guard positions already, the Bobcats have their own jam in the front court.

If it goes well, this could help the Nets a lot. Gordon's three point shooting would help open up lanes Lopez as well as Deron Williams and Joe Johnson. Kris Humphries had played well in his New Jersey Nets days, but his style of play is just a more offensively-advanced version of Reggie Evans, although they play the same general role.

Aside from that, this trades gives the Nets even less flexibility, if any, moving forward.
